Geography

The Otherworld’s geography started exactly similar to our own Plane’s when the Shift happened, thousands and thousands of years ago. Since then, both planes evolved mostly similarly in terms of continent shapes and overall geographical features. The big differences are as follow:

Thicker Ice sheet, slightly lower sea level

With temperatures slightly colder than in our world, the ice sheets didn’t retreat as far and retained a lot of water, hence keeping the sea level lower overall. Some islands are peninsulas, especially in low lands such as Florida, Indonesia, or the Doggerland.

Mediterranean lower and not connected to the Atlantic Ocean

The Zanclean flood never happened in the Otherworld, meaning that the Mediterranean is cut from the Atlantic Ocean. For that reason, its level is much lower and areas in the Adriatic Sea, near Sicily, or the Balearic islands are dry land. The black sea is also cut from the Mediterranean and is a smaller sea.

Doggerland

Doggerland is an area in the North Sea that was above water until 20000 years BC. In the Otherworld, it is still mostly above water, albeit sinking slowly and made of bogs and marshes. It is nevertheless possible to walk between England and the European continent.

Climate

With more ice cover, the climate is overall colder, with harsher winters.

Vegetation

Without humans to destroy it, the Otherworld has kept its forest coverage. The whole of Europe is a forest extending to Asia without barriers. Southern and eastern Asia itself is almost fully covered. Sub-saharan Africa, especially the Western side, is one dense forest – as well as Madagascar. Central America is a neverending jungle, starting with the Amazon in the South and ending in Mexico. Massive forests in Northern america are developed in its Wester and Eastern coasts and join in Canada.
Deserts exist, mainly in Australia, Sahara, and central Asia.
